Recipe Review: The Most Addicting Oreo Dirt Pie
A delicious, chocolatey dessert with Oreos, chocolate cake, chocolate pudding, hot fudge, and whipped cream.
In honor of National Oreo Day on March 6, I tried out a recipe posted on The Frugal Navy Wife's blog: "The Most Addicting Oreo Dirt Pie." Here is my review of that recipe.
Individually, each component is delicious. You just can't go wrong with chocolate cake, chocolate pudding, hot fudge, whipped cream, or Oreos. All together, it is a little intense. If you are a chocoholic, this is the recipe for you! Just be warned: you won't want to have too much at once.

If you want to tame this down some, one option to consider would be to eat this with some vanilla ice cream. Yes, I know. That adds more sugar. However, I have found that creamy ice cream can help tame  overwhelming chocolate dishes.

Another thought would be to eliminate the first pudding layer. The second layer has the whipped cream and Oreos, so you will want to keep that. But the first layer is not necessarily needed.

Additionally, my sister suggested just eating the Oreo "goo" (her words, not mine). Doing away with the cake layer but keeping everything else would make it reminiscent of the dirt pudding that we remember from childhood. All you'd need is gummy worms!

The final suggestion I have is to try an Oreo pudding or some other flavor of pudding instead of dark chocolate. That may give this dessert a more well-rounded flavor profile.

If you try any of these suggestions, be sure to let me know how they turn out!
